not voting

my intentions today were to write a blog post on the way home on my iPhone in the vanpool. instead, I’ve been drowsy nodding in and out of sleep for the last 30min.

is choosing not to vote the same thing as exercising your right to vote? I don’t mean forgetting or being too busy or simply being apathetic. no, I mean to be so unconvinced of either candidate or choice that you don’t feel either one represents your values, beliefs, or convictions accurately.

that’s how I currently feel. perhaps I can stay awake for more of trip home tomorrow to develop the idea further.

till then, have you ever chosen NOT to vote?

  1. You may have already recieved this in your mailbox, but in Octobers letter from Focus on the Family in Action, Dr. Dobson who up until now was of the position that he could not support either candidate made this statement “While I will not endorse either candidate this year, I can say that I am now supportive of Senator John McCain and his bid for the presidency.” He states his reasons for this “change of heart” in the letter – because he’s been received quite a bit of flack for changing his mind on supporting mcCain. You can read the letter online here

I know that have been quite a few people up in the air this year. I’ve been reading all sorts of links – thanks to twitter people for keeping me informed.

  2. I only have one rule in my mind, is that if a person doesn’t vote than they have no right later on to complain about what the new president is doing. So if you don’t vote, fine but I don’t wanna hear any complaining.

  3. I agree with Elia (if you don’t vote, then you can’t complain).

I WANTED to vote in the last presidential election, but didn’t get a chance to & I was really upset about it (I was taking an HR class & my train ran late & it was either miss class [not an option as it was a work paid class] or miss voting). I do complain about the president, however, because that WAS NOT who I would have voted for & my not voting wasn’t my fault.
