another 30 days

if you’re a veteran reader of this blog then you already know about the first 30 days I’m referring to. (for those who don’t know what I’m talking about refer to this post from a couple of weeks ago.)

well, this post is not about that. this is about a self imposed goal of mine to write something everyday for thirty consecutive days.

I started last tuesday and i’ve kept it up everyday so far. so including today I’m done with day 9!

originally I was just going to write in a personal journal. then I decided I should write a blog post everyday for 30 days. then I thought I’d do both. it’s ended up being just writing to the blog. and that’s good enough for me.

my reason for this is three-fold//
1) I felt that with the start if my twitter account that I had neglected my writing here. I can’t guarantee that after the thirty days are over I’ll still post on a frequent basis on the blog. i think my blog writing seems to run in spurts. but I figured that thirty consistent days would give my readers something to look forward to everyday (at least while it lasts).

2) I want to develop my writing ability further. since college, almost ten years ago, I haven’t taken any formal training to develop my writing. but I’ve read in several places that one of the best ways to become a better writer is to simply “write something; then re-write it”.

3) and lastly it’s because I felt there was a lot of life passing by that I had no permanent record of. if you ask me I’ll tell you that deb has the better memory between the both of us. I simply don’t remember things in the past all that much. people ask me if I remember what my kids were like when they were little and unfortunately I don’t. I can remember the vague generalities, but not the little detail that make up the fabric of life; the stuff you wanna remember when you’re old. and so I want to start writing it down, for my sake if not yours.

so we’ll see how this 30 day writing challenge goes for me. I’m looking forward to it. who knows maybe it’ll become habit forming?

oh … and the other day it was deb who suggested that after rhonda moves out we should start one of those other 30 day challenges. woohoo!! 😉

// today i’m thankful for:
1. writing
2. real keyboards
3. soft lighting
4. rachel’s giggles
a potential buyer for our old van

PS. sarah, i haven’t forgotten my promise to post pictures of this past weekend. and i know it’s already almost NEXT weekend. so i’ll do it tomorrow (thur) guaranteed!
